How far is it to the nearest beach?

It is aproximately 35 minutes to our nearest seaside resort of Pedaso. There are many blue flag beaches along the Adriatic Coast.

How far is it to the nearest ski area?

It is aproximately 40 minutes to our nearest ski resort at Sassotetto. Here you will find 17km's of beginners and intermediate slopes, ski hire and restaurants. There is also a nursery 'conveyor belt' type life for younger children and the not so experienced skiiers which only costs  5 euros per day. At Madellena you can also have ski lessons.

How far is it to the nearest walking trails?

There are many walks direct from The Hideaway, but Amandola is the main start of the many stunning trails in the Sibillini National Park. We have books and leaflets about walking and cycling in the National Park. For the ultimate walking experience, why not try the Gran Anello - a 7 day circular trek along the top of the mountains. This can be done in manageable sections and we can arrange transport for you for a small charge. We can also arrange guided walks in and around the National Park. Please enquire here.

How far is it to the nearest shops?

It is 3kms to our nearest shops in Comunanza and 20kms to the nearest large shopping center at Ascoli Piceno. Please note most shops are closed between 1pm and 4pm and on Monday mornings. The supermarket in Amandola is open all day on Sundays and during the week.

How far is it to the nearest restaurant?

Our nearest restaurant is Re Artu (King Arthur), a delicious pizza restaurant 3km from Comunanza. The restaurant welcomes families and is fantastic for dining outside in the summer months. Try our favourite delicious, light pizza - the Atomica and all for only 5 euros. The house wine isn't bad either at only 3 euros a litre! There is a takeaway pizza shop in Comunanza who also serve fantastic pizza's if you fancy dining at home.

We can recommend many other local restaurants in the area, from farmhouse restaurants, pizzarias, trattorias or even WWF projects - all serving delicious,home-cooked local cusine.
