Our Top Tips For A Short Two Day Vacation

Day 1

After a leisurely breakfast, why not take a hike & a picnic up the stunning Gola Dell’Infernaccio. This cool & shady walk is especially welcome during the hot summer days. The gorge walk follows the path of the River Tenna & through the beech woods, you can walk up to the beautiful Eremo build single handedly by Padre Pietro over many years.

Call into Casa Del Gelato in Amandola for a refreshing ice cream before making your way home for a swim & relax in the garden at The Hideaway.

Sotto in Comunanza makes a perfect evening dining experience, sitting out in the gorgeous piazza next to the church of Santa Catarina. If you fancy a real treat, then head up to Isola San Biagio near Montemonaco and our wonderful Michelin star restaurant Il Tiglio. You will be amazed to find this beautiful restaurant tucked away in a tiny hilltop village. Bookings essential.

Day 2

If you are in the mood for a city break, then a trip to Ascoli Picino is a must. Older than Rome, this beautiful Travertine city is just the right size to explore. Look out for the many hundreds of inscriptions above the doors & there are several surprises in store!

If you’re hungry, then you can’t beat Taverna Di Cecco Just near the large bridge Followed by a beautiful handmade gelato at Yoghi in Piazza Arringero, Where you will also find the Tourist office, Full of useful information about Ascoli

In the evening, a delicious thin pizza at Sandrino’s in Amandola under the loggia is perfect. Why not take a stroll round the old town either before or after dinner. Bookings essential.

Our Top Tips For A Weeks Vacation.

Obviously everybody has different favourite things to do on holiday so whether it’s hiking in the mountains or relaxing on a beach there really is something for all the family.

But here is a list of just a few of our favourites!

  • A loop walk of Lago Di San Ruffino (see our “Relive” walking maps) followed by lunch or dinner at Osteria Del Lago

  • A visit to ancient Ascoli Piceno with lunch at Taverna Di Cecco

  • A hike from Monte Amandola to Pintura Di Bognola with lunch at Z Chalet (Weekends only) or La Capanna, for large portions of delicious homemade local cuisine.

  • Lunch at Gran Forno, with the buffet & pasta followed by a swim in the Adriatic at Marina Di Altidonna

  • Wine tasting at Terra Di Fageto, Pedaso

  • A freshing swim in the amazing waters of Lago di Fiastra followed by a loop of the lake (see “Relive”) walks & then another cooling dip

  • A trip to Offida to discover all about the lace making & a spot of wine tasting especially at our favourite cantina Ciu Ciu

  • Lunch at Casa Dell’Ape near Offida & Castel Di Lama

  • For the kids or the young at heart, a trip up to Montemonaco to visit the Mazzumurelli Forest

  • A night at the opera in Macerata

  • Lunch at Norcineria followed by a walk around the lovely Abbedia di Fiastra & a visit to the Abbey

  • An evening out at one of the many festivals & events held during the summer. See your apartment guide

  • A visit to the magnificent plains of Castelluccio where you can hike the Dogana Loop, horse ride or just take in the views. It’s especially special if you are visiting us during late June or July to see the spectacular display of flowers

  • Hiring a little speedboat at Numana & whizzing up to Portonovo to see the stunning Conero National Park from the sea (see our exploring the coast page for more details)

  • A special treat at our Michelin Star Restaurant il Tiglio at Isola San Biagio
